Distinguish passive from active vocabulary

As an intermediate language learner, I have a vested interest in tracking my progress. The further I advance, the more important the two figures of passive and active vocabulary become. Of course language production has more aspects (word order, grammar, idiomatic expressions), but measuring active vocabulary comes pretty close to measuring real progress.
For all language learners, these 2 figures represent real progress. Tracking these figures significantly helps in monitoring progress in all phases of learning.
My proposition is to add an indicator for active vocab, and showing both figures on the status line, active and inactive (passive) vocab.
The default for the active status would be "not active" until set to active.
