Mark Kaufmann No, this is when creating LingQs manually. I want the opposite of what you are suggesting: I want to select the translation manually, but I haven't found a way to enable that in the Android app. Exactly which setting are you referring to?

The steps I need to do in Android are:

My wish is to be able to long-click on blue words, being able to select both the level and translation directly.

Daniel Brahneborg if you select the level on a blue word it automatically chooses the top meaning and creates a LingQ at that level. Otherwise, you have to choose the meaning you want and then open the LingQ again to change the level. If you are in Sentence View and showing the vocabulary list, you can just tap on the level to change it in the list and save an extra tap.

However, in the iOS app it does allow you to choose a level and then a meaning. We will try to implement that on Android.

I'm also not sure what you mean by long click on Android. It seems to me you need to tap to open a LingQ, then swipe up to expand the widget, then choose a different meaning. Or, tapping on a word again in the vocabulary list in sentence view opens the full window.

Mark Kaufmann Ah, it seems I remembered incorrectly here.

When I click on a blue word, I can select its meaning.

However, I then have to click on the word again, getting a very similar popup window. Now I can select the level, just as on the web, as well as correcting the spelling of the translation (which as mentioned before is needed quite often). It should be possible to get the second popup directly for the blue word, no?

Clicking on a blue word in sentence mode gives me the exact same popup as in the normal text mode, where I can just select the meaning.

Swiping to expand a window does not seem to work on my phone (Samsung S24, fully updated). Swiping in any direction anywhere when the lingq popup is there seems to do exactly nothing at all. Exactly where should I swipe how?

Daniel BrahneborgOn the app, the popup opens in its small form, then you should be able to swipe upwards on the popup to maximize it so you can input or edit and see additional information. Swipe up on the "handle" in the centre top of the popup to expand it up.

Mark Kaufmann Ah, thanks. It still did not quite work though, because when I clicked on a translation to edit it, the popup was closed. Doing the same on a yellow word works fine. So the popup on blue words is still a bit different.

Daniel Brahneborg Yes, they're different. On the blue popup, you have to either input a new meaning or choose an existing one. You then have to reopen it to edit. Since most users prefer to select a meaning and have the popup close all at once, this is the way it works.
