Feature Requests

As I've been chatting with the Lynx bot, it has been soooo helpful to have a flexible conversation where I can still benefit from my embedded translations and easily add to my vocabulary. It made me think that it would be amazing to be able to chat with other users this way. (And bonus points if you could record audio with transcriptions as well) I know this would probably be a huge undertaking / update, but it would be AMAZING, and I would be fully prepared to pay extra for a service like that! I have tried some other language exchange apps, and they're... just not that good. I feel like lingq tends to attract more serious language learners, and so it could be a really good fit, and I would trust you guys to make something awesome.

Current Behavior: When a long lesson is automatically split into multiple parts, LingQ assigns the audio file only to the first part. As a result, parts 2 and onward lose the synchronized audio-text functionality, making it impossible to follow along with audio while reading—one of LingQ’s core strengths. Desired Behavior: To maintain the integrity of the reading-while-listening experience, LingQ should either: Avoid splitting long lessons altogether, or If splitting is necessary, ensure that the corresponding audio is correctly segmented and assigned to each part. This would significantly improve the usability of imported content like podcasts or audiobooks, where lesson length often exceeds platform limits. Thanks for considering this enhancement!

there are some phrases not really always staying together, like pick something up, and I only want to creat a LingQ of “pick up”. And this problem is more deadly for the German separabale verbs(which are very commonly seprated and German learners cannot creat LingQ for them)

As a long-time LingQ user, I’d like to propose a feature that would allow subscribers to temporarily pause their subscription without losing access to their accumulated data—especially the LingQs they've created over time. In my case, I’ve been a paying subscriber for over five years and have built a substantial library of personalized content. Unfortunately, needing to pause my subscription currently means losing access to all of this data, which feels unnecessarily punitive and discouraging for loyal users. Suggested Solution: Introduce a “Pause Subscription” option that retains user data (LingQs, vocabulary stats, imported lessons, etc.) during the inactive period. Optionally, limit access to premium features while paused, but preserve the user’s learning history. Resume full access upon reactivation without data loss. Why This Matters: Encourages long-term commitment by offering flexibility during life transitions. Reduces churn by making it easier for users to return after a break. Honors the time and effort users have invested in building their language learning journey. I hope this suggestion resonates with the LingQ team and community. Thank you for considering it!

It would save a lot of time to be able to upload a whole Course/Book at once. Select to upload all of the text files, select to upload all of the audio files: same-named text and audio are linked together and the filenames auto-populate to the name of the lesson.

Hi, I like to add notes while learning. For example i ask chatgpt for a word breakdown. And add the root of the word or some extra info (differences between 2 words with almost same meaning for example) as a note. However, i cant see quickly which word has a note and which doesnt, which makes it you have to make a lot of extra clicks just to see if a word has a note. Solution: add a small * or 1 on top/to the right of a word so we know it includes a note. Then if we see the word in a text we instantly know it has some extra info. Would improve the user experience quite a bit :) Hope its possible! Also I'm a new user, so i'd like to take this moment to say thank you for the app, enjoying it a lot so far!

Propose adding a confirmation modal that appears by default when users move to a new page in the reader. The confirmation would ask the user if they wish to move their unlingqed tokens to known and provide an option to not show the modal in the future. In addition, propose adding a toggle to the settings for users to be able to re-enable this confirmation. Example: "You've completed a page! Move all unlingqed words to known? YES / NO __ Don't ask me again." This proposal attempts to solve a few issues at once and provides a few benefits besides: New users often don't know that paging (by default) marks all their blue lingqs as known, which frustrates them, especially as there's no easy way to reverse the action The move-to-known behavior is fairly destructive—it's extremely tedious or requires third-party scripts to reverse it. UX best practice recommends having confirmations for destructive actions like this, especially if they are unintuitive and would catch the user by surprise. The proposed behavior doesn't change the default intended use of the app, while also informing a new user how the app wants to behave Expert users may get annoyed by having a confirmation every time they change pages, so providing the option to opt out of future confirmations keeps this change for new users from affecting expert users' experiences.

Improvements to the LingQ Book Challenge. Auto add books when I start reading and completing books. There may be situation where I may be reading multiple books at same time, so in the challenge, just auto show the book that I am most ahead-in to completion. or auto show the most recent one that I read. Add filter by book Language . Currently we can only filter by Following and Country Privacy options to let others see all the books I've read Add a total number of books read counter, add this to filter (filter by books read) Add counter for total number of words from all completed books , with ability to filter and sort user by total words of all completed books. Note that this is not same as Words of Reading stat. Have a way to see 30/90 days ranking (also have a all-time ranking). This can be based on No. of books completed in 90 days and also Total no of words of books completed in 90 days. So basically a 30, 90 days and all-time leaderboard. Point 5, 6 and 7 would give a more fair, better ranking system and challenge.

When I’m listening to a lesson and I click a word to bring up the dictionary, if I click to hear the word, the audio volume is much lower than the lesson volume. Could the volumes be made the same?

Im not sure what how to refer to this screen but its when listening and reading to a playlist item. When viewing a text with audio on mobile, the highlighted current spoken/shown text automatically stays in the middle of the screen to make it easier to follow along without having to scroll the page up. Or better yet, include a way to control where the text will be fixed on the screen so one could choose it higher or lower when its being used. Currently the text is fixed to the bottom of the screen and moves up when the next sentence is spoken, this makes it harder for follow and see whats coming next, especially when there is a bit of delay when automatically moving to the next paragraph
